Help break the cycle of hunger, disease, and hopelessness.

How Your Donations Are Used

THROUGH YOUR GENEROUS SPONSORSHIPS & DONATIONS, OPEN DOOR MINISTRIES IS ABLE TO FEED HUNGRY CHILDREN, HOUSE THE ORPHANED AND RESCUE THE SEXUALLY ABUSED OF HONDURAS.

Open Door struggles to help children who deal with food insecurity (hunger). Open Door operates two public feeding stations in the poorest of the poor neighborhoods of Tocoa, Honduras. There, children up to the age of eleven are provided with a hot meal Monday through Friday. For most of these children, this is all the food they will have to eat that day. Each child at our feeding stations can be provided with this daily meal for just $1 a day or a $35 monthly sponsorship. Join with us as we provide healthy, nutritious meals to these children in the poorest parts of Honduras.

Your donations also help Open Door to take in orphans who might otherwise be left in abusive situations that could ultimately lead to their death. Open Door houses approximately 50 orphans, ages infant to about 12 years of age. The orphanage consists of two one story houses for the boys and a single two story home for the girls. These homes provide the safety and loving environment these children need to grow an flourish.

The abused girls home consists of one large home that is referred to as “Casa Grande” (big house). This home has two large dormitory size bedrooms where girls rescued from physical and sexual abuse are housed. One room, houses girls and their babies and the other room is for girls who have no children. These girls range in age from eleven to 17 years of age. Open Door provides extensive counseling to these girls so that the deep wounds of abuse can begin to heal. The girls are provided with an education and employment opportunities when they age out of the home. The employment benefits include; a wage, room and board, and their continued education, including that of their children.

One hundred percent of all donations and sponsorships goes directly to support and care for the children at Open Door Ministries.

Open Door Ministries is an open book when it comes to how we carefully plan for and manage your donations. For additional info please email Penny Compton at pennylcompton@aol.com

Note: At Open Door Ministries, many churches and individuals ship donated items directly to us. We regularly receive shipments of clothing, shoes, and supplies like shampoo, conditioner, pencils, crayons etc. Some organizations sometimes provide us with medicines, furniture, and even a little food. Although these donations help, they don’t provide everything we need, that is why we are in need of donations. One area that is really lacking is in the education area. The curriculum we use and Honduran teaching methods are short changing the children. At ODM we believe Christ is leading us to raise a new generation of world changers. Please prayerfully consider how you can join us in accomplishing this goal. Make a monetary donation, supply needed items for the homes or school, sponsor a child or inquire about our ongoing need for US teachers. Thank you.

Can they count on you?
