Help break the cycle of homelessness in Honduras.

The Orphan Problem

MANY CHILDREN IN HONDURAS ARRIVE AT OUR ORPHANAGE SIMPLY BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS DON’T WANT THEM, ARE INCARCERATED, OR ARE CASUALTIES OF VIOLENCE.

Children in Honduras learn at an early age that food is a luxury and not a constant. They also learn that the hand coming towards them may not be in gentleness. These sweet faces are often written off and ignored. Most are forced to earn money by begging, stealing, or selling themselves. In some unfortunate cases, newborn babies have been found wrapped in plastic bags and discarded or left at hospital doors because the parents don’t want or cannot feed one more mouth.

The Orphan Solution

THE VILLAGE OF HOPE ORPHANAGE IS A SAFE HOME FOR THE NEGLECTED CHILDREN OF HONDURAS.

Open Door Ministries shares the light of Christ with the least of these by taking these precious little ones in and giving them a safe place to live free from the cycle of poverty and abuse they have been born into. The existing orphanage has been built by short term mission’s teams coming alongside local Hondurans to provide a lasting safety for these children. At the orphanage, children are provided with housing, food, clothing, medical care, and an education. Above all else, they are invited into a loving, Christ-centered environment to thrive in.

As the orphanage grows so do the daily costs of caring for the children. Open Door Ministries needs your help to continue to provide a safe, wholesome, loving place for the children to live. One hundred percent of all donations and sponsorships goes directly to the support and care of the children at Open Door Ministries. The property at The Village of Hope is designed for eight homes. Currently, there are three homes with one in the building stages. The cost of housing is an undeniable factor in providing care for these orphans. A partial sponsorship of $35 a month will help with housing, medical, education, clothing, and food. Take part in providing a safe place by considering a monthly sponsorship!

The children who live at the Village of Hope Orphanage arrive through three different avenues. First, Honduras has a department of Children and Family known as IHNFA or DINFA. Another way is through the Fiscalia or the Attorney General. These government departments regulate adoptions and remove children from abusive family conditions. Lastly, abandoned children are found wandering the streets by the police. Some of these children don’t survive. The lucky ones are brought to the Village of Hope orphanage. Many nights, the police call out from the front gate asking if Open Door Ministries can take the children they find.

Space at Open Door is precious and not all the children can be taken in. Sponsorship donations can help to build more homes, allowing us to save the lives of more children living on the streets of Tocoa, Honduras.

Not one penny is ever wasted. Won’t you help today?
