Help break the cycle of sexual abuse in Honduras.

The Sexual Abuse Problem

SEX TRAFFICKING IS A GROWING INDUSTRY IN HONDURAS.

Imagine you’re eleven years old and your mother knowingly sells you to men so that she can buy a few tortillas to feed your younger siblings. This is an all too often occurrence in third world countries. These young girls suffer unimaginable physical pain, let alone the emotional scarring that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. These children are sometimes forcibly taken from Honduras to work in bars and brothels in places like Mexico, Guatemala, Nicaragua, the United States and even Europe.

The Sexual Abuse Solution

CASA GRANDE – THE SAFE HAVEN.

The Gates of Hope extends to an additional property affectionately called “Casa Grande” (Big House). This home houses up to 15 young girls and their babies. Many of these young women arrive at Open Door Ministries pregnant at the age of 14. These girls give birth while living at the Gates of Hope and raise their children while they attend the on campus school.

These young women enter the Gates of hope for a variety of reasons. Some of them have been prostituted by their families. Others have left abusive homes and wound up on the street where they have been adopted by violent gangs. The gangs exploit them through prostitution. Physical abuse is a common factor. We are blessed to be able to provide these girls with a safe loving environment at Casa Grande where they receive an education, learn job skills, engage in counseling, and raise their children in a loving home.

Each house at Open Door Ministries is overseen by a live-in house mother. The girls are responsible for many different chores during the day. There are always lots of eggs to collect as there is a sizable chicken coop on property. There are also fish to be harvested from the on property tilapia tank. All the girls pitch in with cooking and caring for the children.

One hundred percent of all donations and sponsorships goes directly to support and care for the children at Open Door Ministries.
